PDP Rejects Alleged Dissolution Of Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo Excos

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed as illegal and invalid a purported announcement dissolving the elected State Executive Committees of the party in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo states.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, described the alleged dissolution as “illegal and unwarranted,” insisting that it runs contrary to ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party. He said the move was capable of worsening existing divisions at the state and other levels, stressing that the purported dissolution was “null, void and of no effect whatsoever.”

The opposition party therefore urged its state chapters, as well as all officers at the local government and ward levels, to disregard the notice and continue to perform their lawful duties without interruption. The party also called on members of the public to discountenance the announcement, maintaining that the elected executives in the affected states remain in place.

The PDP further clarified that its current peace efforts should not be misinterpreted, noting that the desire for reconciliation is aimed at preserving the party ahead of forthcoming elections. “For the avoidance of doubt, our desire for peace must be understood in the context of the need for the salvation of the party for the purpose of the forthcoming elections, and not misconstrued otherwise,” the statement read.
