Ondo North Youth Must Not Be Bought – YAN Ambassador Bolu Oladokun Declares War on Tokenism

The Youth Ambassador of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria for Ondo North Senatorial District, Hon. Amb. Bolu Oladokun, has called on political leaders and youths across the district to wake up to their responsibilities and work towards genuine development.

In a press statement released on Sunday, Oladokun expressed concern over what he described as the continued neglect of the youth and the widespread culture of political inducement that undermines long-term progress.

“We can no longer afford to mortgage our destiny for short-term benefits,” he said. “This is not the time to sell our future for today’s cheap peanuts. We must rise above the politics of survival and embrace the politics of responsibility and development.”

The statement strongly urged Senator Jide Ipinsagba, representing Ondo North at the National Assembly, to ensure that his representation reflects the aspirations of all communities in the senatorial district. Oladokun emphasized the need for inclusive and balanced projects across the six local government areas which include Owo, Ose, Akoko North-East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-East, and Akoko South-West.

“Your initiatives must not be lopsided or selective,” he cautioned. “Leadership is not about defending mistakes but about listening, correcting, and evolving.”

Oladokun also took a swipe at local government chairmen in the district, accusing them of inaction in the face of serious issues such as youth unemployment, insecurity, poor infrastructure, and a deteriorating education system.

“Our local governments must become engines of development, not sleeping bureaucracies,” he stated.

However, he commended members of the House of Representatives from Ondo North who are actively engaging with their constituents through empowerment programmes, foreign scholarships, and development projects. He described their efforts as commendable and worthy of emulation.

“You are setting a clear example of what responsible leadership should look like,” Oladokun noted.

As the year 2025 approaches its halfway mark, the YAN ambassador called on all stakeholders to make the remaining months count. He emphasized the importance of youth unity, courage, and unwavering pursuit of a better Ondo North.

“Together, we can take Ondo North from where it is to where it ought to be,” he said. “But only if we are united in purpose, bold in truth, and committed to a future of equity and justice.”
