Member of the House of Representatives representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso, has responded to widespread inquiries and public commentary regarding his constituency’s share in the 2025 Appropriation Act, assuring constituents of transparency and accountability in project implementation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, Hon. Akingbaso clarified that the N1 billion worth of constituency projects allocated to each member of the House under the current administration is yet to be implemented, as the 2025 Appropriation Act, though passed, is still awaiting execution by the Federal Government.
He explained that under the former arrangement, lawmakers were able to influence N400 million worth of constituency projects. However, the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu increased government revenue, inflation, and in response, the Federal Executive raised the allocation to N1 billion for House members and N2 billion for senators to enable them address grassroots needs.
“It is public knowledge that the Federal Government has continued implementing the 2024 budget, while the 2025 budget is yet to be operational. The current projects being executed in our constituency are still under the 2024 budget,” he stated.
Hon. Akingbaso noted that while lawmakers influence the selection of projects, the actual disbursement of funds and execution is handled by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). He assured constituents that he has already submitted high-impact projects for consideration, and these were duly captured in the 2025 Appropriation Act.
“I am happy that people are paying attention and seeking information. Once the funds are approved and released, I will ensure that the public is duly informed,” the lawmaker added.
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation also expressed gratitude for the support and prayers of his constituents, reaffirming his commitment to effective representation and grassroots development.
