Ondo South PDP Leaders Meet In Akure, Express Hope Amid Internal Crisis

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ondo South Senatorial District on Wednesday held a strategic meeting at the Akure residence of former PDP National Vice Chairman and Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso, as part of ongoing efforts to address the internal challenges confronting the party.

The meeting, which drew key party leaders and stakeholders from the district, focused on updates regarding the lingering internal crisis within the PDP and the way forward. Speaking at the meeting, Olafeso assured members that the party’s challenges were being systematically addressed, expressing optimism that an end was in sight.

According to him, all hope is not lost for the PDP, stressing that the party would emerge stronger and more united through a deliberate process of reorganisation and reconciliation. He urged members to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of the party, noting that the PDP remains a formidable political force in Ondo State.

Also speaking, a prominent party leader, Ola Mafo, charged members not to be discouraged by recent defections, describing them as insignificant to the overall strength and future of the party. He likened the PDP to the earth, unshakable and enduring, regardless of temporary setbacks.

The meeting further resolved that the PDP would fully participate in the forthcoming Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election to fill the vacancy created by the exit of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim. Party leaders expressed confidence in the PDP’s capacity to present a credible candidate and reclaim its strong footing in the district.

It was also agreed that a larger stakeholders’ meeting involving a broader spectrum of party leaders and members across Ondo South would be convened in the coming days to consolidate efforts towards unity and electoral readiness.
