The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council, Ondo State Axis, has applauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for approving the release of ₦350 million for the payment of students’ bursary in the state.
In a press statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Comrade Adekanye Mayomi Adeboye (INEC), the General Secretary, Comrade Oladele Oluwafemi Emmanuel (Fresh Diamond), and the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Johnpaul O. Alabi (Makins), the association described the approval as a “bold demonstration of the Governor’s uncommon commitment to the welfare and progress of Nigerian students in Ondo State.”
The students’ body noted that at a time when undergraduates are grappling with the pressures of rising tuition, accommodation costs, and daily living expenses, the intervention comes as a welcome relief and renewed hope.
According to the statement, “This bursary approval is a people-first decision that prioritizes education, reduces the burden on parents, and inspires students to remain focused on their studies without losing hope in government support.”
NANS expressed optimism that the bursary fund will go a long way in motivating indigent students, supporting their academic pursuits, and reinforcing the role of education as the true foundation for sustainable development in the state.
The Ondo JCC leadership also pledged the association’s continuous partnership with the state government, while assuring that NANS will remain the voice that ensures accountability and transparency in the disbursement of the bursary.
“As students, we say a big thank you to Governor Aiyedatiwa. This decision is not just about bursary; it is about investing in the future of Ondo State,” the statement read.
The association urged the government to sustain and expand the intervention in the coming years so that no student in the state is left behind.
