The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council, Ondo Axis, is set to ignite the spirit of intellectual engagement across the state with a groundbreaking debate tagged “The Battle of Intellects, the Clash of Campuses — Sparks of Thought, Flames of Change.”
Scheduled to hold on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, the event will bring together the brightest minds from campuses across Ondo State in a stimulating contest of ideas.
With the debate theme, “From Confrontation to Collaboration: The Power of Intellectual Engagement in Students’ Unionism,” participants will explore how constructive dialogue can transform unionism from mere conflict-driven activism into a force for unity, innovation, and progress. In what promises to be one of the most exciting student-led intellectual contests in recent times, a total of ₦1 million in cash prizes has been earmarked for winners. The champion will go home with ₦500,000, while the first, second, and third runners-up will receive ₦250,000, ₦150,000, and ₦100,000 respectively.
Organizers describe the competition as more than a debate, stressing that it is a rallying platform where ideas collide, brilliance shines, and a new culture of collaboration is nurtured among student leaders. According to the JCC leadership, the initiative is designed to showcase intellectual talent while fostering a shift in unionism from confrontation to constructive engagement.
“This is about sparking flames of change through dialogue and demonstrating that intellectual engagement is the strongest tool for shaping the future,” a statement from the organizing committee read.
With anticipation already building across Ondo campuses, the event is expected to draw students, stakeholders, and thought leaders to witness the future of student leadership unfold on stage.
