The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting today, issuing a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration and outlining plans for the party's future.
In a communique released after the meeting, the NEC expressed deep concern over what it described as the "sorry and melancholic state of affairs" in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government. The party condemned the worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and alleged corruption, attributing these issues to the policies and actions of the Tinubu-led administration.
The NEC also accused the APC of attempting to transform Nigeria into a one-party state by stifling opposition and democratic institutions. "It is clear that this plot is borne out of APC’s mortal fear of inevitable defeat in 2027 due to its dismal failure in government," the communique stated.
On internal matters, the NEC ratified the composition of the Committee on the National Convention and approved the conduct of the National Convention from August 28 to 30, 2025. The Zoning Committee, chaired by Governor Douye Diri, and the National Convention Committee, led by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, were also approved.
Addressing the issue of the National Secretary, the NEC acknowledged the resolution from the South East Zonal Executive and resolved to consider it at the next NEC meeting scheduled for June 30, 2025.
The meeting concluded with a reassurance to Nigerians that the PDP remains strong, resilient, and united in its commitment to lead the nation out of its current challenges.
