EAF Marks 5th Anniversary, Commissions Ondo Office

The Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Foundation (EAF), a non-profit organisation dedicated to women’s health, celebrated its fifth anniversary on Friday, May 24, 2025, with the commissioning of its new operational office in Ondo Kingdom.

Founded by Mrs. Olabimpe Fapohunda, the event drew medical professionals, political figures, traditional leaders, and members of the public, who gathered to reflect on the foundation’s achievements and future goals.

Mrs. Fapohunda, who has lived with endometriosis for 25 years and was later diagnosed with adenomyosis, recounted her personal experience which inspired the foundation’s creation.

“I went undiagnosed for 16 years. That pain birthed this foundation so others won’t suffer in silence,” she said, while thanking her family, especially her husband, and the EAF team.

Since its inception, EAF has conducted awareness campaigns across Lagos, Oyo, and Ondo States, visiting several schools and institutions including St. Monica’s, Fiwasaye, and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, among others.

Guest speaker, Dr. Michael Gbala, CMD of UNIMED Teaching Hospital, delivered a lecture on the causes, symptoms, and treatment of endometriosis and adenomyosis. He urged women to seek medical advice for irregular menstrual symptoms.

Former lawmaker, Hon. Sunday Olajide, commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. “We must encourage our girls to speak out and support them,” he said.

There was also an interactive health session with medical students and nurses, where many attendees admitted it was their first time learning about the conditions.

Elderly guests received care packages, while children were gifted items. Some EAF staff members were also honoured with awards and cash prizes in recognition of their service.

Dignitaries present included Hon. (Mrs.) Cecilia Ifayase, Hon. Patience Arinola Adamolekun, Hon. John Folajimi Akintunde, and Nurse Olufunke Olofinnika, who represented Prof. Oye Abimbola Oluwatosin.

With the new office now operational, EAF says it is ready to expand its advocacy and support programmes across Nigeria.
